I got a 350 4 bolt main, and heads, i want to bore .040 over, cuz i got the pistions and rings and kit. I am also going to resurface the deck down .010 to .015 for a gain in compression. I need any tip i can get on building this, i still have to bring the block down to bore out the one i had someone screwed up, i am goin to get the heads done, 2.02 1.60 and thinking about a 280h comp cam, 249-cl12-212-2,.480 lift 280 duration. and rollor tiped rockers. I want to be streetable but want to strip too. edelbrock performer intake, edlebrock or holley double pumper. Also i have a 400 turbo tranny, should i use it or the 350 i got?I will be putting on a 2400 stall coverter. Any suggestions anyone? I will be putting it in a 74 nova. Thanks

you really wouldnt need the t400 trans, your not going to be running that much power through it. a healthy t350 will do you fine.

A bowl blend will be necessary to make use of the larger valves you're installing.
Use a Performer RPM intake, preferably an air-gap if you have no need for a exhaust crossover.
I second the advice to run the TH350. There will be significantly less parasitic drag compared to the larger TH400.

Will an intake with no exhaust crossover work on heads with the exhaust passages? Just making sure so I don't screw up.

Of course a "non-crossover" intake will bolt up even though it may not be an ideal situation...
The best scenario would be to have a cylinder head with no exhaust crossovers cast in and an air gap manifold. Most aftermarket heads short of a few stock replacement heads have no heat 'crossovers.'
