I'm looking to buy a 454 block to start building (my first one)

I plan to some day stuff it into a 1st gen camaro.

I have an opportunity to buy a casting number: 14015445 which appears to be a 78-90...2 or 4 bolt.

My question...
I would rather buy a block in the 1st gen camaro date range. If I choose to buy a newer block (78-90) are there major differences that I should be aware of or is a 454 a 454? Does this affect how I shop for after-market parts?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Scooping up a early 70's block won't be easy, that block will work fine.My 67 truck has a 78 2 bolt and there's no difference.  WIEDER

You have to watch the later 454 blocks, because the tooling was wearing out, GM started having bad core shift problems.
