Having trouble with my original TH350 on '71 Nova SS. Had it rebuilt little over a year ago. Put in shift kit. Worked well but now must shift manually. Any ideas with respect to problem?

Havig trouble with TH 350 tranny in '71 Nova SS. Had it rebuilt over year ago. Approximately 1000 miles. Worked well for a while. Now must change manually. Will not shift if put in drive. Original tranny part of restoration project. Need help diagnosing problem.

Sounds like one of the passages in the valvebody is obstructed, or a check ball is out of place. I'd suggest pulling the valvebody off and checking to make sure the shift kit is in just right.
