I recently put a 350 from a 93 p/u in my 84. I want to put a set of vortec heads on the engine. I found a set of L31 906 vortec heads for a decent price. Will they fit my engine that is bone stock? Thanks.

Sure will, but make sure they don't come with stock valvesprings with 120,000 miles on them...
You will still see some gains with a bone-stock engine and it will give a little breathing room for improvements in the future.

You'll need a new intake manifold with those Vortec heads, because the use the 8-bolt pattern. Not a big deal, sveeral companies have them that'll take your truck's Q-Jet.
The above post is right, before putting hte heads on your engine, install a fresh set of valvesprings, valve stems seals, and make sure the combustion chambers are clean. For springs, with a stock or mild cam, use the Comp 941s at an installed height of 1.800". I'd also swap in a new set of pushrods.
Those heads will provide probably a 20 HP gain with the stock cam in your '93 truck motor (I've got a '92 Silverado, motor was rated at 210 HP) and give you some room for a better cam later on, unless you wanted to go ahead anow and swap in a mild hydraulic roller to get the most from the heads.

Yes the heads will bolt on, but you must use a vortec intake manifold. I have read that they flow better than the old bowtie over the counter heads and they were the best iron head money could buy way back in there time. David
