My 1970 Chevy Truck 400 cu, SB, 4 bolt main has R43 spark plugs (no extended tip). Can I use a R43S/R45S with an extended tip. Will make any difference in performance or gas mileage...?

My experiences with hotter plugs is spark timing some engines like, some don't.Detonation could happen now that the plug isn't dissapating the combustion heat as fast.I've done fine with hotter plugs in OEM chambers like yours, get some, find your favorite hill and listen for Mr.Knock.  WIEDER
