Hello all! Just wanted to get some ideas. I have a 350 that i run in my boat. Was rebuilt last season, is 60 over and has an edelbrock cam, lifter, and carb combo. Nothing too fancy, but it gets me going. I removed the stock balancer and ordered a new one from summit racing. I have now attempted to put it on 4 times. Each time preheating the balancer and cooling the crank. I have used my puller/installer for the installation as well..... you say why does he say he has tried 4 times - -well it goes on about 75% of the way and then won't go farther. I guess I could get out the breaker bar, but I don't wnat to screw anything up. has anyone every used emery cloth to make the diameter of the hole in the balancer larger to help slip on? any suggestions?

i wonder if it is hitting on the inner crank key??? maybe it is sticking up.....or the keyway is a tiny bit shallow... maybe file the keyway to make a ramp to push the key down.,.. it should not affect the amount of tortional grip as you are not widening the keyway ,,, you are making it taller....
again just a thought....
and what are you using to heat and cool things with....
i usually just use a tiny bit of assy lube on the snout and use the balancer installer... or several bolts ... each one a 1/2 inch longer than the original factory bolt.... ... i don't remember the sizes... i keep them in a drawer in my tool box....

Inner crank key and depth of groove in the balancer turned out to be the key (no pun intended). All it took was a caliper and a small file - got eveything figured out, Heated the banancer, had a couple beers - -ta da it was done. Nice and tight and ready to roll, er a spin!
Thanks WAYNEP712!
