This is my first engine rebuild and keep in mind it is not gonna be a race rebuild I just want more muscle.... cause gas prices are so low right now, pffff

My version of a good street 383? Scat has a 1-91200BIE assembly.BIE stands for internal balance with a external flexplate also hypereutectic pistons and 6.00in rods. These will allow you to run tighter piston-wall clearances for better sealing and under 400hp appox. No nos or forced air also. With more cubes of course more fuel, but for intakes a dual plane for lower rpm torque.Need to know application, weight, gears, budget and etc..Then we can help with heads and cam combo.   WIEDER

we definitely need the info that wieder requested in order to even begin answering this question because a good 383 build requires dollars.

In the case of a relatively light 'muscle' car more displacement is going to equal less fuel economy...

Yeah, I a buddy of mine just stroked 350 I think it was a 94 not sure. But it was tbi in a truck really worked well for him and he put a 1000$ chip in it also but yeah that truck is CRAZY it pulls really hard and that's in a full size truck. I would get a kit off ebay like 750 to 800$ for the kit, keith black flat top or domed pistons, all new bearings, scat crank you'll need that, fel pro gaskets, and some of them even come with a cam. Just make sure your tbi will allow. YOU also need to have your block ground out and a .30 bore and look into what you want for a rod 350 or a 400 rod in a car i would use the 350 rods a truck the 400 rods would be better I think.

id say a eagle crank or a scat crank. ebay sells them cheap. get 400 rods with some KB pistons designed for a 350 to be stroked to the 383. also u will need a new flexplate and harmonic balancer from a 400 sbc if you decide to go the cheaper route. you can build one on the cheap side for a few hundred bucks if you know what to look for and where to get good deals on parts. for instance 400 crank, 400 rods, 350 pistons makes a good stroker on a budget. otherwise if you wanna spend 800-1000 get a eagle kit on e-bay. thats the best buy.

CHECK THIS OUT>>>>>> this is where you find all the info on these 383 stroker and it explains about the rod lengths and strokes and what you want for power and other info as well       http://www.chevymania.com/
