383 stroker question.....test....what's wrong ?

i was on the highway tonight ...when i press the pedal fully , i feel like the car rev more than it accelerate ....also the transmission has been rebuilt with a stage 3 shift kit , i can feel it *** but not as it supposed too , maybe its shifting too fast ? i would really need your opinion ...

oh and i forgot to ask ....what would you time this engine? maybe the guy haven't tuned or timed well ?!?

Loose converters like yours not being very tight below there claimed stall like your 3500.Go out and push into the go pedal, it should shift harder above your stall.Most people with pumped up engines start at 12 at the crank and remaining degrees in the distributor with totals 34-38, every engine is different.Those 3:55 gears are keeping your rpms to low for your converter also.Tell us your vehicle weight also.    WIEDER

your combo of rear gears and loose convertor is causing your convertor to work harder to accelerate your car.if u had a lower gear ratio(410) the condition wouldnt be as noticeable.

thanks for both your answers very appreciated !!!...my car is a 1979 corvette wich is around 3400 Lbs i think...so you guys think i might have the wrong converter ? when i push the pedal at full trottle the car seems to lag , i mean it seems like the rpm always stays the same for a couple of time then it begin to go up .... i dunno how to explain that ... well it feels like it was reving for absolutly nothing , and can't feel the shift really well , btw i have a th-350 transmission ... i really don't know what's wrong .....

Like BigCam says 4:10 gears and flash stall of no more 2800,your cam range is 2500-6000 so you want to be a few hundred rpm higher stall.In other words get a 2500 stall,the better quality converters are closer to what they say the stall is.Just rebuilt my 400 trans. recently and this transmission shop only installs Hughes brand,but another shop of course will use something else.Call your local trans. shops and see if you can get a certain brand repeated and go from there.Your combo is pushing good street manners,this Vette should make newer Vettes nervous at the stoplights.Keep us tuned in on any progress.Good luck    WIEDER

I have a similar setup.383,same cam. same pistons. AFR 190cc heads, same intake and carb, in a 3600lb TA with 342 gears. I had a 3500 stall that flashed to 4200 on the launch and was soft on the shifts. It needed to be reved to 7000 to make it work. I got a Coan 3000 stall that flashes to 3200 on the launch and I am much happier. The shift are alot harder now.

have you ever tried it on the 1/4 mile ? how much horsepower and torque you got ?
