I AM LOOKING AT GOOD DEAL ON A 64 IMPALA SS.,I NEED HELP AS NOT TO GET BURNED ON THIS,THE TITLE NUMBERS MATCH THE SMALL ID TAG,ARE THERE MORE NUMBERS I NEED TO LOCATE? WHERE WOULD THEY BE? 327 motor,powerglide 2 speed tranny.also is decodethis.com a reliable site? I was able to get some help there as to where the car was built and what it actually was.I WILL POST MY FINDINGS ON THE 18TH,FEB.SO ALL WILL KNOW MY OUTCOME COLLECTORNEWBE

Generally speaking "numbers matching" refers to the portion of the VIN that is stamped into the engine and trans. If these numbers match the VIN then the car has it's original engine and trans. This would matter to a serious collector that would want a vehicle that is in totally original condition. I'm not sure on the Glide but the numbers on the block will be on a pad directly in front of the right side cylinder head. If the block has ever been decked, you could have a blank pad.
