I have been lookin at getting an older chevy pickup late 80's early 90's era body style

4X4 or 2WD dont know yet but what would be better the stock TBI a carb (simple) or a 4bbl efi setup?

I'm also looking at some crate engines thinkin a 383 how hard is it to put a carb motor where an EFI one was?

also will a big block fit?

or perhaps an LS1 or LS2??

A) Stick with the stock TBI unit. Some basic improvements and it'll handle just abotu anythign you can trhow at it. www.turbocity.com ahs a bunch of TBI performance stuff.

B)It's a pain in the butt to swap out EFI for carb in this situation. Like I said above, stick with the TBI system.

C) Yes, a big block will fit. Remember, Chevy built the 454 SS trucks, half ton pickups with 454s. An LS motor is no problem either, you just have to have a harness and computer to run the motor.

only reason I would want to go to a carb is for simplicity seems like with EFI every time you change something you have to reprogram the ECU and that can add up after a while since I'm probably gonna build this motor one step at a time and not all at once

oh yeah and how can you tell what generation small block you have?

also how hard would it be to mount say a 572 or 454 big block in a chevy half ton 93 era truck
