did the big block chevy nova in 1969 have a 3 or 4 row radiator in it and does anybody know at what temprature is normal for these things to run at i have a 3 row radiator with my flex fan blade plus one small electric fan in the front of the radiator and in the summer when its hot it still runs like 210 degrees is this too hot if so how can i make this thing run cooler without buying a $500.00 aluminum radiator.

210 is a good operating temp with the proper mix of coolant ... most later model cars run at 215 ro 230F... big engines usually require a 195 stat to modulate temps...
make sure you do have a coolant bypass system that allows the water pump to circulate the coolant in the BLOCK and past the back of the of the closed thermostat so it will get proper coolant temps so it opens properly... this also allows the hot coolant to cycle into the radiator, the stat to close and the stopped coolant in the radiator will be cooled by the air flow...
when people use no thermostat or a nascar type restrictor the coolant never slows down or stops long enough for the air passing through the radiator to cool it....
the water pumps move the coolant so fast without a thermostat. at higher rpm there is so much flow that it builds up a head pressure in the top tank and can overpressurize the top tank cracking it or breaking the soldered joints..
an example.... hot soup in a spoon... blow on it and it cools... if you tryed to cool it by blowing the same amount while you were pouring into the bowl you could not do it...
do you have a fan shroud ?? one that funnels all of the exposed core into the fan.
this allows the entire core to be cooled by the fan .. not just the center of the radiator...

no i dont have a full shroud its just one of those chrome half shrouds the radiator and radiator support is reall y for small block but the radiator is a 3 row so i would probably have to get a small block shroud for it instead of big block shroud the big block shroud may be too big you think.what about using a7 blade fan i think those big blocks had it. mine is like 5 blade i think any more ideas are appreciated
