So, now the difference between a DOG and a HOT engine is an eighth inch of bore size. Sheesh...

Economy with performance 350. All out performance 434 with aftermarket block. 400s with factory blocks are dogs. Anything smaller than a 350 is too small. The 383 is in the middle and splits the difference well.

Any factory block 400 is a dog? What? It's easy to make 500 horsepower out of a factory block 400.

The BEST engine out there if you want to stay with a small block is a 434, which is a .030 over 400 with a 4" stoke crank and 6" rods. Dart or eagle makes a rotating assembly. GO BIG OR GO HOME!

Are you referring to an LT5? If so I think they were 375hp 370lb ft, which was alot on the streets in the early 90's. While ultimately cool and prettty rare there are easier less expensive ways to make power, but if you use one you will likely have the only one around when you are out.

I agree the LT-5 was rated from 375-405HP.
