ok i just bought a 1981 2 door chevy impala with a 454 and a turbo 350. The 454 is gutless it seems to me and not that reliable so i was thinking of getting a ls1 or ls6 or somrthing along those lines. Could i bolt the ls motor to my turbo 350 ? Or should i just buy a 4l60e ?
here are some pics of my project as you can see there is plenty of room in the engine bay lol

454 gutless?! Want to swap to an LS1 -LS6?!
Unless the install was done with a sawzall and duct tape, someone's already taken care of the hard part putting a big block in a mid-size Caprice/Impala like this.
If the 454 seems week, check the tune on it, make sure the timing's correct, plugs good, carb is properly tuned, etc. These basic things can really hurt your performance.
If performance still isn't good enoughf or you after this, pull the 454 out, put in a beefier came (or maybe the cam that's in the motor isn't the best for the heads on it, so then you'd want ot get the proper cam for the engine) maybe even a set of aluminum street big block heads to lighten the front end up, put the engine back in, and be ready to buy new rear tires every month!
