I have a 1978 Chevy BIG TEN, it has some work to be done to it. My problem and questions are about rebuilding the carburetor, it is a Q-Jet MV 4b. I have the rebuild kit, but it dose not show enough info for me to rebuild it. My question is if anyone has any info that would better help me to rebuild my carburetor, so if you have anything that can help me please let me know. Thanks

Head for your local library, the technology section should have Chilton manuals for your year and model carb.

on 78 Qjets.. there are a few items that you really really dont want to ajust...when you are taking apart the carb...
some of them have a brass item with a screw on top in the passengers side front corner of the carb... take it out and set it aside...put it back in when reassembling the carb.. do not ajust the screw on top...
and ... on even more ... under the primary needle holder there is an item.. sort of a screw but it takes needle nose pliers to unscrew it.. this is the lean limit screw and you really dont want to ajust it... it is set for each engine... it has super fine threads and can easily cross thread also...
the engine vacuum pulls the vacuum piston down agenst this limit screw.. if anybody has ajusted it... there is a plug above it in the top cover... you have to put the carb back together and put everything back on it...(oh first you have to make a tubular tool with the end flattened just a bit so it will fit over the tip and allow you to ajust it.. make a 90 degree bend so you can tell exactally how much you have turned it) ... you have to drive the car/truck.. turn it out a little at a time like 1/4 turn.. until it reaches the best power.. doing it on a smog machine in manual mode with the wheels under load at 25 mph is the absolute best way to ajust it... get the best mpg also..
