I have been lookiong for someone to help me rebuild my Q-jet carburetor, and really havent had much luck.My question is if my carburetor has been taken apart and cleaned already, can it still be put together. I have all the parts that can off the carburetor, but was told i couldnt use it anymore cause some valves or something like that would be messed up. I know that people rebuild them all the time, so i would like to get more info on this matter. Can i still use my org., Q-jet carburetor with out any problems if it has all the parts to it still? I think they are just trying to get me for my money, they want to put another carb. on the truck instead of rebuilding mine. And even promised me i wouldnt have to mess with it ever if they did put it on my truck.

it takes about 30 minutes to reassemble a qjet....

unless you have removed the throttle blades... or the choke or secondary blades... these do not have to be removed to  clean it... in most cases...

find a chiltons manual for that year of cars.(the manual covers several years of cars..). there is complete detailed instrutions of reassembleing the quadrajet...     you can only learn from experiance...

the made quadra jets for 20 plus years   with a ton of differnces with the same basic design......

you can take it in pieces to a carb shop... in your town.. or find a older mechanic ... somebody over 45 as they will still know how to reassemble it...

I went to a carb shop and they told me that it wouldnt possible toput back together, that valves and stuff like that had fine threads. They want me to buy a elberbrock carb and adpater from them to install in my 78 truck, personally i think they just want money outta me. I know of many people taking them apart and puting themback together with no problems, i have a few more sources to try. In may i am going to college for mechanics, but i try to learn as much as possible myself. I have a manual, but it dosnt show all the steps. What would you suggest if i cant find anyone who knows how to rebuild the q-jet carburetor?
