hey guys new to this site but have had the mag for years and im on other camaro related sites but i am having a hard time trying to figure what to do to fix a 1441 trouble code that is for evap emmission control system incorrect purge flow. i have changed out my charcoal canister after finding bits of charcoal in the purge vacuum switch and purge solenoid so i blew out the line and also relaced them as well and the line that go from the throttle body to the purge solenoid and that go to the switch from the solenoid. anyone have an idea on what i can do besides going to the stealership? thanks,Brian

alright well nobody has any idea what im talking about but i did finally find it for a moment! the vacuum switch's electrical connection was allowing air to pass through and i sealed it up with some silicone ! the code went out for emissions smog check and then a day later came back on why??!!!!!!

by the way for everybody..
harbor freight has code readers for under 40 bucks... try to get the one that reads CAN... controler area network... that will be the most usefull on newer cars... as every light bulb and a lot of other stuff is controled by the ecm/bcm on the newer models..
and csk has decent scan tools for about 200 cookies.. be sure to get the one that covers both obd1 and obd 2..
to test the system you also need a pump simular to a radiator pressure tester that screws onto the filler pipe.. there are pressure transducers in most newer tanks to look for leaks.. that is how the ecm knows when you have left the gas cap loose or off...
one thing.. about these pressure transducer.. the ones that get removed and replaced... the techs are using them to look for leaking combustion into the radiator.. by suppling the sensor with voltage hooking it to a hand held scope, then unhooking the water pump belts and starting the motors up.. with no coolant circulation the pulses of any leaks can be seen in small changes of pressure in the cooling system... just though everybody should know...

Brian, My buddy is having this same exact problem (97 Z28 also! hopefully we can help each other solve this problem). He went to a supposed camaro "expert" and was told it was carbon build up inside the intake manifold where the EGR connects to the manifold. We took off the manifold and cleaned it out (it had a lot of build up in there) but the code still came back up. The "expert" said to change the canister and gas cap, and check for any type of vacuum leaks in the evap system. We've detailed every inch of hose that is part of the evap system and fixed any possible leaks or cracked hoses". According to the expert, next was replace the EGR, no luck. Next step he said to change the ECM. We just put in the new computer, and no luck. I hate to give up, but after $800 we're not sure what else to do but go to the dealer. Any more ideas?

Test the voltage at the purge control solenoid and the pressure sensor with the key on. If 11-12 volts present, hook wires up, the purge control solenoid should buzz. Purge control solenoid will not activate until fuel tank pressure exceeds 0.7psi. and should not activate at idle. Remember that the evap. system will conduct up to eight different tests useing OBD and PCM to monitor leaks, pressure variations and electric problems. You have not said you have done any electric testing so far. You also need to verify vaccum signal from the throttle body to the purge solenoid. Dont replace an ECM until you cover all the bases. If all else fails, bring it to someone with a scan tool.

i have a 1996 monte carlo with a 1441 code also. I have recently replaced the fuel pump and until then the light wasnt on. At same time I replaced gas tank fillerneck and gas cap, purge solenoid and purge valve switch. I have sealed off any points of leaking hoses and such, what do u guys recomend. When light is on it does not effect performance of car just annoying seeing light on dash.
