vin code, missing data plate on firewall

i have recently purchased a 1967 camaro project car with a title that matches
vin on door post but does not match sequence number on data plate. is it possible
to get a correct data plate or at least find out what options should be on
the vehicle?

Uh oh. Sounds like your car has either been salvaged at some point, or something else that's not so good. Very discreetly I'd do a VIN search on your car's VIN number and see what you come up with. Also, decode the data plate you've got now, then thoroughly go through the car and see if that data plate matches the car.
