The wife made me dispose of the Mineral Spirits from my parts washing tank.  I am looking for a safer solvent that still works.  I have looked at Simple Green HD and Citrus based but, I hesitate to fill my tank with 15 gallons of a solvent without knowing how well it will perform.  Anybody try more environmentally friendly solvent thay still works as well.

Unless you're constantly bathing in it, mineral spirits isn't that harmful a cleaner. If you were using MEK all the time, that'd be a different story.

Your best bet is to find the nearest Safety Kleen dealer and get some of their parts washing solvent. It works well, and is fairly safe for the environment. Visit their website for more info.

For cleaning small parts that don't need to soak, try Walmart's Super Tech carb cleaner. It cleans better than ANYTHING I've ever come across.BUT BE CAREFUL,it will take the paint off ANYTHING in an INSTANT.And dissolve plastis and rubbers, too.DO NOT use on any type of seals(mains.inputs,outputs....)or you'll watch them dissolve before your very eyes. But for $0.99 a can clean away.ONLY USE ON METALS.Works great on windshields, too.Just stay off gaskets.Spray on rag, then use
