Was hoping somebody on here could help me. Just bought an 87 3/4 ton Chevy w/ 350 throttle body injection. I'm wanting to hook up an aftermarket tach (the truck never had one) and was wondering if anyone here knows where you tap in on these newer engines. I installed one (Autometer) on my 68 El Camino and it was really straitforward, but I wasn't sure if it would be any more complicated on a computer controlled engine like my "new" truck has. Any help appreciated..Thanks

If you have a regular gm hei(with big cap) theirs a place on the distr. next to the B+ terminal marked tach it may be marked with a minus(-) sign check your instructions for which wire goes there. There should also be a black wire for ground I would ground at engine.your other wire should connect to your park lites. If you have a small distr w/remote coil use the opposite terminalof B+ on the coil.you will probaly need a female spade terminal which should be included with your new tach.
