So, i bought a backup motor off of racingjunk.com and when it got here i inspected it and it has very very minor scartches on a few of the cylinder walls. the scartches are barely visible and you can barely feel them with your finger. The rest of the motor seems fine, it is a 468 bbc with a steel crank and h-beam rods with je 12.5:1 pistons, the rotating assembly seems like if its brand new and the motor looks like its been through a fresh rebuild. What do you think of the cylinder walls? will i be able to run this motor? it will be on a nitrous set up. any info will help. thank you

Score marks are just not good on rings. Rings are supposed to rotate by means of the cross-hatch in the cylinder wall and not only do they inhibit rotation but it can really damage a ring face. Since nitrous is involved the rings will already be seeing a lot of punishment. Take it your machinist and see how much material he thinks needs to be removed in a honing machine to clean them up. A little more piston-to-wall clearance probably can't hurt for a nitrous drag racing engine.
