Hello to all. I bought a 1974 Nova that was the progect of a man who died. The TH350 has gone bad. I am having a new one built but have a little problem, I do not know what stall speed converter to use. The only info I have is that it is a 383 stroker motor with Edelbrock intake and heads. The cam is very choppy at idle and it has a 10 bolt posi with 373 gears. I spoke to the engine builder and he does not remember what cam is in it and paperwork is nowhere to be found. It has a Crane vacuum canister. The engine builder said if he had to guess a 2500 stall would be about right. My tranny builder initially stated an 1800 would be best. Right now I am splitting the difference and going with a 2300. I know I am lacking info but any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Joe

If this engine needs a vacuum canister you need all the stall you can get (compared to stock anyway) 1800 rpm is a stock converter, that would not be a good situation for this car. Your 2300/2500 rpm stall would be a good start since you only have 3.73:1 gears...

Thanks for the reply. I did not think 1800 was a good idea. I may bump up to a 2500.
