could a bad intake gasket make an engine blow blue exhaust smoke at an idle, motor just smokes at idle.

Uh, not likely.
If I remember correctly, blue smoke at idle means a bad valve guide or valve.

Worn valve guides and destroyed valve seals are probably the culprit. If it smokes heavily under acceleration I'd think about the rings...
