Hi guys,
I'm fairly new to later model chevys and just picked up a 93-97(i think its a 93. I'll find out for sure tomorrow) Camaro for very cheap. It was a V-6 car w/ auto tranny. The motor is gone, but the tranny and rest of the car is intact. I'm wanting to make a budget drag car out of it and was wondering what suggestions ya'll had for the build(on the cheap). My thoughts are that one could build a fairly mild 350 or 383 w/ carb and run a shot of nitrous and it would be fairly easy to get into the 11's in the 1/4. I know it would be involved to get the factory guages to work when running a carb, but in my case the factory guages would not be needed. Would there be any issues with the oldskool carb'd motor swap? How 'bout the tranny? I have no idea what type it is other than a 4spd auto. Are the V-6 trannies any different than the v-8 trannies? Would it hold up or would it be easier to swap it out for a th350 or 400? How 'bout the rear end? I'm thinking that i can gut the interior to cut down on weight. Any other suggestions? Thoughts on capabilities? Specific motor and/or tranny suggestions???
