The engine in my 71 Nova is out of a 77 truck. When building it i installed the comp cams xe268h cam and new oil pump, distributor gear and some other stuff. Its a stock HEI distributor for 77 (I think). When tryign to install the distributor it seemed like it wouldn't meet flush with the intake. I had #1 piston at TDC and all that good stuff. The oil pump rod was popsitioned so the slot was parallel with the firewall and the distributor rotor was positioned so which ever way the rotor was facing is the way the distributor rod was. So i made the rotor parallel with the firewall and the distributor would sink and felt like it would make that final drop onto the oil pump but it wasnt meeting flush on the intake. It felt like it was to big because you could kinda push down on the distributor (not hard) and when you try and pull it out it was tough to pull out like the clearances were to small. Has anyone had a problem with Edelbrock intakes and HEI? Im also wondering if i put the two washers on the distributor on wrong when installign the new gear.
