yes get rid of it! realistically i think it does nothing.. hot water from the block runs around the oil... cooling it? loosen the bolt in the center of the cooler that the oil filter mounts on, and the whole adapter will come off. put a plug in the block inm place of the hose nipple next to the cooler. You don't need any adapters cause the cooler threads on the regular oil filter stud. Make sure you get the old rubber seal off the block before installing a new oil filter!! The o-ring on mine was stuck and i put a new filter on, started the motor, and blew five qts of oil all over my garage floor. I had one of these on an 85 vette motor i have, and i ripped it off cause i thought it was pointless, and i wrecked the aluminum tube when i put my motor in. I had no problems at all.
