I needs some help with choosing the right parts to beef my 305 up.  I have a 77 monte carlo and it only has 50,00 miles on it.  The car runs great but I wanted to beef it up and make it holler!  When this car is finished I will probably only drive it 1 once a week at the most in the spring fall and summer and keep it stored for the winter.  The car is going to have 26" wheels on it.  I read somwhere that I need to get 3:73 gears when I am dealing with a tire that big.  I want the car to be fast off the take off; but i probably wont go over 70 MHP.  With that said what type of manifold, carb, and cams should I chose for this 305?  Is there a certain name brand headers that I should go with ?  Is there anything else that I should get to make the motor run without purchasing heads for it?  Most importantly I want this car to run COOOLLL and for it to be very reliable.  ANY SUGGESTIONS?

Got sum work 4 yerself, aintcha. It'll do though.A 305cid is a stroker,on a smaller scale from most american breeds. It was designed for the Grandprix cid genre oversees. It works best when you work for its genetics(torq). You're not going to get much in a quarter, but your aware of that.Edelbrock Performer is an out standing choice for your induction.Your exhaust is where the 305 will make impession's if at all.A big set of header primary tubes, dual exhaust(I recomend 2 1/2 tubing)and build backpressure at the mufflers.Good open flow from the heads out, makes good balance with things. My 305 really likes its duals(as described). My carb is an Edel 600cfm.Exhaust creates ur biggest torq gains overall. It has to match the engine's genetics! Hope Ive helped.

a 305 has the same stroke as a 350,justa smaller bore.heads are a major restriction, not good for high rpm.stick to the basicserformer intake,15/8"headers,2.5" exhaust, the cam i would choose is a comp cams extreme energy 262h,and any 600cfm carb of your choice. hope this helps.good luck with it.
