well, basicaly. any test & Tune / street legal type racing will use the .500 light. usually for motorcycles they use .400, atleast around here. NHRA uses the .000 as perfect, regardless of the amount between lights. wether it be .400 or .500 between bulbs.

I've been drag racing now for two years. So I'm a newbe. But I've had two prefect lights (0.0000) and got the T-shirt and this year I won a "King Of The Track" Wally. I have found that trying for a prefect light is not the right way to race, it's to close to red. If you're red the race is over, unless your the faster car and the other guy red lights first. What works for me is to try for a .050 to .020 light. That way if your a little fast on the trigger your still in the race.

it depends on what kind of computer system the track is using. if they're using the old .500 full tree system then the best light is a .500, if they're using the new system then a perfect light will be a .000. In the old system they have a .400 full tree, .500 full tree, .400 pro tree, and a .500 full tree. a full tree means the yellow lights come down one by one. a pro tree is where all yellow lights come on at once. most likely you're using a full tree if you're just test and tune and bracket racing. the pro tree is used for heads up racing.
