I just got a 74 Nova that had a new rearend put in before I got it.I bought rims for it and just noticed the back wheel is not centered in the wheelwell.I is closer to the back.Could I need different leaf springs or shims put in?Not an excellent mechanic but really need help.Thanx,Ezra B.

make sure the rearend is centered on the locating pins on the springs. If that's not it, the springs could be in backwards or the wrong ones.

I agree with the last guy. You can loosen the nut off of the U-bolts and move the rear end forward by sliding it on the springs, this is in the case where there is no locating pin on the springs, which very well could be the cas if the springs are aftermarket or the U-bolts were not tightened well enough initially, causing the rear end to shift under load and shear off the locating pins- It happened to me once! After you get it in the right spot and bolt it down, go back after about a month of driving and re-tighten them because the rubber pads will compress a little. If you dont re-tighten then you rear end will start to move around, causeing your car you "dog-walk", and then disaster will strike!
